Technically spoken, the Dairy Farm Nature Park is part of the Bukit Timah nature reserve. However, in the past, this area was not really accessible and the official opening took place only in 2009.
This part of the reserve is a new trail laid through the jungle, that leads to a formerly disaffected cowshed (thus the name - Dairy Farm), which now hosts an Education Centre and Environmental Learning Lab. You can learn here about the history of the area and the changing habitat for wildlife (...)

The Ulu Pandan reservoir at the West Coast of Singapore is a quiet place for some long distance run training. The reservoir is separated only by a narrow seawall from the sea and the neighboring industrial harbour facilities.
In the morning totally deserted, you may only meet some lonely runners, monitor lizards on the way to their breakfast and some turtles. If you come early enough you can see a beautiful sunrise, coloring the undisturbed water of the reservoir.
How to get there:
By (...)

Mount Kinabalu Properly spoken, climbing up the Gunung (Mount) Kinabalu is not actually a run, though the record is somewhere below 3 hours for the 20 km+. However, hiking up the highest peak in South East Asia within one single day is very demanding and quite comparable in terms of effort with a long distance run for performance. Morever, the 2000m of altitude to climb in order to reach the Low s Peak summit at 4095m is just spectacular.
How to get there:
Firstly, it is necessary to call (...)

West Coast park is relatively small compared to the East Coast one, and not really suited for the 90 minute run of the Sunday morning. But you can still easily align 3-4km of track.
Similarly to East Coast, the park is stretching along the coast, though it is not to scenic, as most of the coast is occupied by the container harbour and industry. Around the main entrance the park area is some sort of "Adventure Land" with all sorts of equipment to climb, jump and balance on. This area is (...)

Cheung Chau Island
Cheung Chau is a small island southwest of the main HongKong island. It consists of two smaller hilly islands, linked together with a narrow strip of sand, on which the village of Cheung Chau is built. For this, the name could be translated from the Cantonese as "Long Island"
It's obviously a bit far off the main Hong Kong district : in fact, it is only reachable by a 20 HKD worth half-hour ferry ride. Thus, runners would only be tempted to run here if they stay (...)

A marathon preparation trail of 26km can be obtained when adding another loop around the MacRitchie reservoir.
How to get there:
By public transport: When starting from MacRitchie, the nearest MRT (...)

Giant Causeway and Carrick-a-rede Bridge
This spot is certainly containing two of the most spectacular tourist attractions of Northern Ireland.
The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. The legend says it has been built by an Irish heroe to cross over to Scotland - to fight his Scottish counterpart. Some people will also recognize the place as the one on the cover of "Houses of the Holy" by Led Zeppelin.
"Just" (...)
